Film Transfer Tutorial
Before phones with built in cameras, before web cams and video camcorders, Americans of every walk of life captured family events and vacations with 8mm and 16mm motion picture cameras.
From the 1930s thru the early 1980s home video was home movies. Millions of feet of movie film is hiding in shoe boxes and crates all over the country. Sadly, they have been stored away so long in many homes they have been all but forgotten. The projectors that were needed to watch them have broken with age or the lamps are no longer available. At Visions Video Transfer we have been transferring 8mm and 16mm film for customers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over 20 years. We have the knowledge, the experience and the equipment necessary to preserve those old films for generations to come. The film transfer rate is 16 cents per foot of film and there is a $1 splicing charge for 3 inch 50ft. reels.
Below you will find a video tutorial to help you figure out what kind and how much film you have. Go ahead, hop over to Grandma's house and dig through the closets or the attic and see what you find. Let us transfer that old film to DVD so you can see your parents when they were your age or younger. Get a good look at your dad when he was thin and still had his hair. See relatives who have long since passed away laughing and smiling on Christmas mornings long ago. If you are Grandma, imagine the fun your grandchildren will have seeing their parents as children playing baseball or hopscotch. The film won't last forever and most of the projectors are gone. Don't let your old movie films sit another day forgotten. When you drop them off with us, they stay with us. We don't ship film off to some lab in another state. We do the work in our office so you will know right where they are at all times. |
